Birdworld’s colony of Humboldt Penguins have long been a Birdworld favourite, and Penguin Island, opened in 1984, makes Penguin Island one of Birdworld’s most well-known exhibits.

Humboldt Penguins live along the coasts of Peru and Chile in South America. They use their wings to effortlessly glide through the water, helping them reach depths of up to 50m. Humboldt Penguins are currently considered a threatened species, mostly due to habitat disturbance.
